Toyota Hybrid, FTW
This ain't you're mom's Prius! Introducing the Toyota Supra HR-V. This is quite a special car as it is the first hybrid vehicle to ever win a racing competition. That's right, at the Tokashi 24 Hour race this little Supra took it all. How did it do it?
A four-wheel energy regeneration and drive system has been adopted which includes in-wheel motors in the front wheels in addition to one 150 kW rear-axle mounted electric motor. Thanks to this energy regeneration system with three motors/generators, the vehicle can more efficiently recover a greater amount of energy during rapid deceleration and braking from high speeds.
Yah that sounds to technical. I wonder what it's fuel consumption is? Could I use it the Carpool lane? That'd be awesome. Oh wait no not really as you'll always find the jerk in the Carpool lane who's going slower than the line at the on-ramp meter. Still an amazing feat from Toyota which nabbed this win on it's second try. First time around, they used a GS450h hybrid system. [Source: SuperCar.Net]
