Next Gen NSX Makes its Way to GT5

20120110-150150.jpg

Did all of you catch Acura's triple whammy yesterday? The RDX gets a cleaner design and ditches its turbo for a V6, the Civic matures into the all new ILX, and the 2nd generation NSX was announced. No one ever expected Honda/Acura to pull such an impressive 180 after such shortfalls of killing off the Integra/RSX, letting the RL stagnate for what seems like decades, and shoe horning a carrot peeler onto every Acura nose. Granted the NSX will feature a hybrid powertrain, but if "Earth Dreams" is as good as Honda has led on then we can expect a decent competitor to Nissan's GT-R or Lexus' LF-A. We can only look back and be somewhat relieved we didn't get the front engine, RWD, V10 batmobile. This concept keeps the mid engine, low slung look we all expect out of the NSX without compromising too much to price/packaging. Even more surprising is that Acura is confident in its Ohio team to develop and produce this car within the next 3 years. That's quite impressive and shows Honda/Acura means business with this NSX - tailored for us by us. So until we get to sit in one of these and dream of a exotic sports car lifestyle at an affordable budget, let's watch it virtually spin around the tracks of GT5! Pretty....

Honda Racing Not Dead?

Late 2009 Honda announced the end of the S2000 and unexpectedly pulled out from the next generation NSX development. Then to pour salt in the wounds of all Honda Heads they shut down Honda Racing. Or did they...

Shortly before Christmas Day, Honda announced that it'll be taking part in the GT500 series (huge in Japan) with the, Front Egine, Rear Wheel Drive V10, HSV-010 GT. Yes my friends, this is as close as we'll get to seeing a next generation NSX. The NSX and the GT variant were developed to debut at the same time, but we all know what happened after the economic bubble busted. That didn't stop Honda though, as they somehow were able to convince the Japanese Automotive Federation (JAF) to let them enter the HSV-010 GT without a production counter-part for this coming season. Now we can all just stare and watch, and maybe for a few seconds think that someday the NSX will return. Honda said it themselves...Power of Dreams.  -Tanker

The End of the Next NSX

So not so long ago Honda President, Takeo Fukui, gave a year end speech on how the current state of the automotive market has made Honda, as well as other companies, begin to look at ways to cut costs to survive through the downturn. As the global economy becomes more uncertain, it is no surprise to see that Honda has cut back on various R&D projects. Yet, most fans weren't expecting to see Honda pull out of F1 or cancel development on their next incarnation of the NSX. The writing is on the wall, cheap efficient cars is where this industry is heading and Honda has shifted all resources to develop efficient diesel engines, hybrid vehicles, Hydrogen vehicles, and NGVs. It'll be a while before we see a sport/sporty car from Honda. We'll have to make do with the Civic and Accord Coupe I guess...

The NSX takes a stroll on the ‘Ring

I can't help but wonder how well received the next NSX will be. Honda fans fear the front-mounted V10 and Corvette-looking car. Then Acura's new image came out with the RL and TSX and everyone began fearing that potato-peeler grill. Either way I can't wait for the Japanese supercar comparos of the GT-R, NSX, and whatever Toyota decides to give us! Until then, this little clip of the upcoming NSX replacement has been sitting around Youtube...VRRRRROOOOM!

NSXPrime: Thread of the Year

So before it's time to ring in the New Year, I just had to post this up. Apparently this thread from NSXPrime has been spreading around the internet faster than the speed of light and indeed it is prolly the greatest form of "forum ownage" out there. Although most of it has been "modded" to death, you can pretty much get the gist of what happened. Short story: Spammer joins Prime. Spammer posts about winning lots o' cash from an internet site and that's how he got his NSX. Next thing you know WhoIs files and GoogleMaps are brought in to the picture. AWESOME!!! Poor guy, never had a chance as the actual thread gets resolved within the first page with his suspension. Soon after though, he was reinstated and more lies just spew forth and quickly followed by the obligatory photoshoppers and forum roll calls...it's a great read that'll sure have you chuckling into the New Year...

NSX Prime: Easiest way to own a NSX
