2011 LA Auto Show: Mario Kart 7
One of the most packed displays at the 2011 LA Auto Show wasn't the new Honda CR-V or even the Toyobaru Twins. It was Mario & Luigi displaying their karts from the just released Mario Kart 7 on the Nintendo 3DS. These karts are the real deal go karts that top out at 35 mph. West Coast Customs was entrusted by Nintendo to build these life-sized Mario karts for the debut of the 3DS game. Too bad Santa ain't got the pull to give me one of these little karts. I'd ditch my car in a heartbeat to go around town throwing banana peels and oil slicks at the other cars. Oh well, I guess I can settle for just the video game.
2011 LA Auto Show: The Gallery

Did a quick run through of the LA Auto Show that occurred last month during Thanksgiving week. Pretty much if it was a hybrid, electric, or SUV vehicle it made a debut at this show. There was a small spattering of sporty compact cars though, so all in all it was an alright show. The aftermarket area was alright and we didn't even bother stepping into the showroom of cars we would never have a chance to obtain in my lifetime. Check out the gallery after the jump to spot what's up and coming with the North American auto industry.

Preview of a few Scions at SEMA 2011

Scion does it big again this year. They recently released a few sneak peak pics of modified 2012 Scion IQs that will be at SEMA this year. I'm a FAN... the question is are you?
Hot Wheels Going High Tech
One of my favorite past times growing up was playing with my collection of diecast cars from the likes of Hot Wheels and Matchbox. Out of the dozens I had, the two I recall the most was a green and orange motor home that reminded me of Scooby Doo's Mystery Machine and a late-70s Pontiac Firebird with a Firebird decal emblazoned along the front. I would dig up my dad's garden to create ramps and trails out of dirt for my cars to rally around on - and this was before I even knew rally car racing existed. I'd imagine driving along these dirt roads pulling some dukes of hazard stunts to end up in a muddy puddle of water. Who didn't pretend they were in a minature car as it performed some unrealistic front-to-backwards spin for the longest jump in the word?
Seems that kids today won't have to pretend too long as Hot Wheels will be introducing a line of cars called "Video Racers." Well, at least they will be able to record a small clip of the action from a bumper POV. Attached at the front of each car is a small VGA camera that can record 12 minutes of video. Once done recording you can check out the bottom of the car to reveal a screen that will playback the carnage you had recorded earlier at 30-60 fps. If that wasn't enough you could actually download the videos off the car onto your computer via cable and share it with your friends. It'd be awesome to see your cars run through those plastic tracks into a loop or two around your living room floor, but not so awesome catching a glimpse of the car attempting to be swallowed by a toddler. If it was me, at 5 years old, it probably wouldn't even last a day on my dirt road course with the final super jump into a pool of murky water. Sucky. Still though, if you want one, Hot Wheels Video Racers will be out this coming Fall.

Happy New Year!

Just thought I'd break away from all this college football to say "Happy New Year!" to you all and I hope you had a safe and sane holiday! 2010 wasn't such a bad year, but I'm sure most of us are just looking forward to a fresh start in 2011. As always, Infamous and I would like to say thank you all for your support and we hope you continue to follow us along well into the new year! With that, don't eat too much and get back to those bowl games, woop woop!(Yeeesh! That TCU...I'm still sore about the Sun Bowl. GRRRR!)
2011 Honda Odyssey Concept
I can admit it: I like minivans. I could really care less if people think soccer mom status, minivans are awesome vehicles too. When modded out, they are drop dead gorgeous. Chevy Astros, Toyota Previas, and Honda Oddys top my list in best looking minivans. Well, except that 3rd Gen Oddy - it was beaten with the Honda Ugly Stick that has been going around Hondas/Acuras since 2000. Looks like the stick missed this Oddy Concept. It's clean, modern, and overall a good direction for the Oddy. Let's hope the Honda Ugly Stick doesn't come around for production finalization cause I'd be very disappointed. We shall see this fall when the 2011 Honda Odyssey is set to debut.
