is this thing on?

Hey there faithful IJ readers! I know there's been a long lull in things going on with the Import Junkiez world, but sometimes life just gets in the way of the things we'd like to do.

So this is just a heads up that Infamous and I are still here, alive and kicking. We just had one of the busiest summers outside the IJ world. Not only am I still learning the ropes of being a first time dad, Infamous has finally married Mrs. Infamous. So be sure to congratulate him next time he comes around. Mrs. Tanker and I have our hands full with mini Tanker. He's beginning to discover an ever expanding world around him and has decided to explore it all, with or without us. We just got him a Disney Pixar's Cars walker and he's zooming around the house like he's in a marathon except he's only figured out how to walk backwards. I can only hope as the summer turns to fall the IJ crew will be able to start getting back into the posting groove.

One more thing - we'd like to give a big thanks to all our friends who have liked us over on Facebook and started following us on Twitter. We are very greatful for all the support we have received over the past couple months. It makes keeping this site going worth it. Don't forget, if you have any ideas, tips, questions or even constructive critisism for us, you can always let us know at ijunkbox@importjunkiez.com. We promise not to bite, unless mini Tanker is around. Then all guarantees are off!

I think I'll end this little update right here. Who knows I might start rambling again. Like did you know I never got rid of Buddy? Shocker. The car just doesn't want to give up. Although we did end up with a Honda CR-V. I was pushing for a Pilot, but the wife thought it was too big. Oh well...hopefully this sets me up for a certain Civic to replace Buddy. Muuu-wahahhaha! Alright, I probably should start real work. Until next time! Thanks again for stopping by!!!

Happy New Year!

Just thought I'd break away from all this college football to say "Happy New Year!" to you all and I hope you had a safe and sane holiday! 2010 wasn't such a bad year, but I'm sure most of us are just looking forward to a fresh start in 2011. As always, Infamous and I would like to say thank you all for your support and we hope you continue to follow us along well into the new year! With that, don't eat too much and get back to those bowl games, woop woop!(Yeeesh! That TCU...I'm still sore about the Sun Bowl. GRRRR!)

Monday Musings

Hey guys! It's been a while since I've put something up, so I just wanted to stop by and say a little something. I just wanted to say thanks to Infamous for his help in spelunker-ing the web for some good stuff to look at. (feux carbon fiber vinyl...what?) I myself have been lacking in the posts cause I've been working on a side project for the past couple weeks which led me to do a side-side project. That side-side project ended up being the following...

The IJ DeadCone Shirt! Our buddy, the DeadCone, is front and center on a very nice heavyweight shirt which comes in a variety of colors, and its all vinyl printed. Nice right? Want? I know you do, so keep coming back to Import Junkiez and we'll do a little something when it comes time to release this shirt to the wild, but for now we can gawk at the awesomeness. Gawk I say...!!!

On a tangent here about gawking at awesomeness, I came across this little gem at the local D&B's Prize Pit:

What is it? It's a diary from one of the Disney licensees - cause its so obvious Disney Consumer Products would never release crap this good. What makes it super awesome is that it appeals to that "inner ricer" in us all and uses the Japanese Katakana for "Cars" and along the bottom says "DRIFT" in a typical race font with emphasis on the Rrrrrr! I wonder how many of these diaries D&B pawns off. (Wait is that DeadCone & buddies up front?) Anyhow, this was a good laugh, I thought I should share, but folks there are better things to waste our hard earned tickets on at D&B's.

And with that I'm done with the awesomeness for the day...its just too much and I got some errands to run before the days out. Hope you all have a good rest of this Monday and I'll catch you all later! ;)

Cleaning Out the Hard Drive

I have been spending a lot of time downloading and uploading pictures and files so that the Import Junkiez Archive isn't just a big old mess of broken links. Going back to the first post all the way to now, I have pretty much completed everything. To get all the pics back, I had to bring out my trusty old external hard drive with all the backups. I got to flipping through some old galleries of stuff I haven't seen since I started posting 7 years ago. Man, has it been that long?! I just thought I'd post up some favorites of the bunch. Lets take a quick trip down memory lane, but don't blame the Sony Mavica for the pics...its me and my lack of photo skills.

I think I'll leave it at that for now or else we'd be here forever, right? LOL. Alrighty, till next time!

It’s My Thursday: Update Edition

Since it started to rain down here in LA, I realized it's been a while since I had a "It's My Thursday" installment, so lets get this rolling shall we?

Happy New Year!

I'm sure Infamous joins me with saying, "Thank You for Your Support!" We can't seem to say it enough really. It's thanks to you that we have made some big strides by jumping onto Facebook and Twitter. We will be taking advantage of this new fangled social networking idea in the near future, but until then we will be updating as usual here as well as over there. If you haven't already, be sure to visit us on our Facebook and Twitter pages. We provided nifty icons on the sidebar to the right for you to click on! --->

Also, if you haven't been around lately be sure to check out our photos from the LA Street Food Festival! Although we couldn't stay the entire event (work didn't want to give me the day off ), we did our best to capture the moment. We had fun, for the most part, just wish we had more time to wait in more lines for more magically delicious treats. We will definitely be keeping an eye out for the 2nd installment of the Food Fest when it comes up. I'm still craving some Uncle Lau's sliders...those things were awesome.

Not much else will be going on this weekend for me. I'm looking forward to just relaxing and doing nothing. Probably work more on other backend stuff to tie the site back together. How about you? Leave us a comment! We like those. For the most part ;) Otherwise, have a safe weekend!

On a sidenote: I tend to get the question, "What does, 'It's my Thursday' mean?" Pretty much, its the Import Junkiez version of the Weekly Round-Up/Weekend Post. It got it's name because it's Friday night and people are gearing up for their weekend, while I, unfortunately, still have one more day of real work. So while most of you folks out there have already begun their weekend, I'm still on Thursday in my work week  :(   Sucks huh?

Import Junkiez: Now On Twitter!

Twitter

Ladies and Gentlemen...we have made the jump to Twitter. Which means when new posts go up, they should go up on Twitter too. That's the plan for now, but in the near future it'll come in handy indeed. We'll keep you posted when the time comes ;) For now tho, you can follow us as we navigate through this social networking age!

Import Junkiez 2010

Happy New Year!

Welcome back to Import Junkiez! A lot has been going on behind the scenes here at Import Junkiez so we took a little break from the site for the Holidays. In that time a lot has passed us by, such as SEMA in November, the LA Auto Show this past December as well as the NAIAS that's going on as we speak. (Have you seen that Ford Focus?! Geez, finally Ford.) Not to mention this past week was CES and the introduction of the 3D TV hype machine as well as the introduction of the Google "SuperPhone", the NexusOne. For New Year's I was able to join 70k other Angelenos down in Long Beach, CA for Red Bull New Year: No Limits to watch Travis Pastrana jump his car off the Pine Pier onto a barge 200ft out in Rainbow Harbor. That was a good way to ring in the New Year...well the East Coast's New Year, we still had 3 hours till the West Coast actually saw a second of 2010. Good thing there were ample bars and demos to pass the time, like the DriftingX stuff along Ocean Drive. Fun.

Which brings us to now...we are now back, full of energy (thanks Red Bull rep for all the free Red Bull I could ask for) and ready to go to town with Import Junkiez. We did some upgrades to the back end of our site, so new stuff should be coming up on a regular basis...well as regular as it gets for us. :/ So sit back, relax and check out the site. If you want to comment on stuff we are pretty open about letting anyone comment. We just ask that you register first as to avoid the crazy spam that tries to creep in on a regular basis. The only rule is..."Make it a good first comment, or else we just might ignore you." Also, if you feel you got something to contribute (like articles, media, tips or constructive criticism) send a friendly email to ijunkbox@importjunkiez.com. I do enjoy reading emails as long as it's not my real job's email ;)

I think that's it. Time for more posts! Thanks again for all your support and here's to 2010. Wait...where's my flying car?

Testing…1…2…3…

Hey ImportJunkiez looks like its back online! WooHoo! Finally, I know. Had some issues with billing, which has all been worked out. Its good to be back and we should be posting up "regularly" again shortly. First, I need to wake up InfamousJJ so he can start cranking out posts for us.  WAKE UP DUDE! TIME TO GET BACK TO WORK....
