For the Android Die Hards

vinylandroid

Do you wish you could have a little Android to put in your pocket and bring it where ever you go?  Well, Android fanboys, now you can! With Google's permission, Designer Andrew Bell has created a line of vinyl toys based on the little green Android mascot. There will be 12 different Androids in the first set and they stand about 3" tall. They will be available at DYZPlastic.com starting February 10th and should be at select retailers still to be announced. Keep in mind, these little guys run $7.25 each and come in sealed boxes...meaning you never know what you got till you purchased it. Good luck Android friends!

Since you can’t afford the real thing …

Since I can't afford the real thing (yet!) here is the next best thing to keeping your hope alive. Hot Wheels came out with a 2009 Nissan GT-R R35 toy model. I was one of the lucky few to come across this little diamond in the ruff at my local department store. Now if I can only find one of those "Honey, I blew up the kids rays" it would be perfect.

Hot Wheels Designer’s Challenge

So at this year's SEMA, Hot Wheels held a design contest for designers to join in hopes of having their creations made into little die-cast toy. Couple of neat little designs, but I think my favorites have to be the over-the-top Honda and Mitsubishi entries. I'll be perusing the toy aisles at TRU when these come out in Spring 2008...

Honda's Honda Racer

Honda Racer

As you can see this little puppy takes much inspiration from Honda's F1 heritage. Using the Honda logo as a basis for the car, they planted an oversized version of Honda's V10 engine from F1. This should be on every Honda fanboys list...lol.

Mitsubishi's Mitsubishi Double Shot

Mitsubishi Double Shotz

This entry from Mitsubishi takes it's inspiration from the Evo and runs with it. Then goes and sticks a 4G63 engine up front and in back, just for good measure...can you imagine the nightmare this car would be?

Need Wallpaper?

So in an effort to make this laptop my own, I was on a search for wallpaper. As of this moment, I still have the default HP wallpaper...which was fine by me, until people started making fun of the fact that I hadn't changed it. Did some Google searching and came across this site from Japan and was quite impressed by the detailed modeling. I'm sure you'll be too...

If you continue on to the link there are more classic JDM as well as European cars on the site. Not fluent in Japanese, but hey I'm guessing this guy, Satoru Kato, has a passion for cars just as much as we do. In fact the wallpapers are only a part of the site. Seems like there's shadowbox stuff, photoshopped stuff, as well as papercrafts!!! Hooray papercrafts! Something to kill the boredom while my leg is still broken. Awesome site just to look through... Mattel Recalls a Large Amount of Toys

...including "Sarge" from their Cars line for the movie "Disney-Pixar's Cars."

Sarge from Cars

Apparently, the replica car might contain lead paint. This is part of a massive recall by of toys manufactured overseas in China. If you happen to have Sarge, you probably should call Mattel and find out what they can do to correct the situation. I know a couple of these ended up in people's toy collections...I suspect the resell value has just plummeted for this old school Army Jeep =(
