Need For Speed World Beta

Just a friendly reminder for you NFS fans - the NFS World Beta has kicked off today!

Head on over to http://world.needforspeed.com to sign up and download the beta client and get ready for a mashup of the best from the NFS Series built into an MMO world.  The beta release adds new locations and additional cars on top of the previous beta allotment. For the most part, you can game for free and check out the impressive visuals and standard NFS gameplay. It's when you hit around level 10 where you are encouraged to purchase a starter pack for $19.99 which will allow you to level higher than level 10, get an exclusive ride, Speed Boost, and gain VIP status. Fun right? You really can't go wrong with free for the first couple of levels - until you realize everyone is passing you up and leaving you in the dust. Then maybe its not so much fun anymore.

GT5…Dated…Pigs Fly.

After what seemed like an eternity, Gran Turismo has finally gotten it's release date: November 2nd. Announced at Sony's Press Conference at E3 2010, this will be just in time for my birthday ;) *hint hint* I'll be expecting the collector's edition pre-order which includes the game, a 1:43 scale diecast of the 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V, a 300+ page car guide, a keychain, and 5 DLC cars with special GT livery.

Street Fighter Legacy… the short film

If your old school, like Tanker and I, then you know about the Street Fighter video game series. I know there was once a movie put out about the classic game (a movie I would like to forget LOL), then a spin off with the Chun Li story, but this short film actually looks legit. I think it's the closest to the game so far. I can't wait to see it. Enjoy the trailer, then a behind the scenes look at the costume design for the movie.

Video Games. Don’t Bother Me.

Its been a busy week with things outside of Import Junkiez and hopefully as things start winding down with real life, we can get back to the regularly scheduled posts. Boss Lady came into town for a friend's wedding and that pretty much took up a lot of last week into today. So as I try to recover lets take a look at this clip from Game Trailers.

Oh God of War...did you come out today? I think its time to put Import Junkiez back on hiatus. ;)

GT5 + NASCAR = zOMG! Want Now!

So, another trailer dropped for Gran Turismo 5 and this time it features the newest race series to the GT franchise: NASCAR. Are you excited for some left-turn racing? I am…unless I’m stuck simulating a 500 lap series just to get a license to move to the next level. Then I wouldn’t be happy - just dizzy from all that turning. Regardless though, this game needs to come out now…Dirt2 and NFS:Shift can only hold me over for so long.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars (Wii)

Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars

Sorry Super Smash Bros., Tatsunoko vs Capcom has got to be the best fighter on the Wii to date. How Nintendo got this as an exclusive is beyond me, but we should be thanking Capcom for releasing it in the US. I have been playing for most of the weekend and can't get enough of it. The gameplay is pretty simple that a beginner can do fairly well, but is just as complex that'll make any veteran fighting player feel at home. The visuals meld 3D graphics with 2D fighting mechanics (ala SFIV) to provide some crazy non-stop action with a lot of flare. Regardless if you don't know much about the characters from either series, Capcom knows how to deliver a fighting game and this does well as a follow-up to Capcom's previous Versus series game: Marvel vs Capcom 2. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.     -Tanker

BTW - if you ever need a break from the combo-juggling insanity, there's also a hidden shooter mini-game which is pretty fun!

Forza 3 and Jalopnik Unite!

Forza Motorsports III

Looks like the creators of Forza 3, Turn 10, and the automotive blog, Jalopnik, are teaming up to figure out which cars will be available in the next couple DLC (download content) packs. Together they will be letting automotive enthusiasts vote on what cars they want in these packs, so all this week Jalopnik will be putting up a group of cars which readers must pick 10 out of. Who knows, maybe we can get a GTI-R Pulsar, Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 or Subaru Alcyone (SVX to us Americans). With everyone picking what they want, it should be a couple of good downloads coming to Forza 3. So jump on over to Jalopnik and tell them what you want in your Forza. Happy Voting!

Voting for Group IV, V, and VI has started!

Muscle March Comes to Wiis Across America

Released in Japan last year, this title is soooo Japanese that most gaming folks would have never thought of getting a localized copy here in America. If you look past the muscle freaks and just overall oddness of what is happening onscreen, the game plays like "Human Tetris." Which works well with the Wii controls, making it a fun and entertaining mini-game. Just don't fail going through the wall.

If you got 500 Wii points laying around and have a knack for kooky Japanese gaming, you definitely should download this game after figuring out a good reason to explain to friends and family why this game is on your Wii.

Turbo’d FT-86 Debuts @ Tokyo Auto Salon

G'S Concept FT-86

Fresh off the pages of FT86club.com: Toyota surprised the crowd at the Tokyo Auto Salon by displaying the FT-86 G's Concept powered by a turbo boxer engine paired with a 6spd MT. Not a bad looking car, but we are still looking at a year or two before a production model is released. Also of interest is that it will include "GPS-Track Day," which was co-developed with Polophony Digital. Basically, it will record you as you race around a real track in your FT-86. All that race data is placed on a memory card which you can then place into your PS3, and ta-da! your real world race data is now accessible through GT5. That's right, you can watch a virtual replay of your time at the track or take on your real world driving by racing a ghost car. Gimmicky? Maybe, but it does sound pretty cool. Coincidentally, Polophony Digital has released another GT5 trailer with the Auto Salon FT-86. Enjoy!
