FormulaD takes over the Infineon Raceway…

Formula D - Sonoma

Infineon Raceway is one of the four original Formula DRIFT tracks on the circuit. Located in Sonoma, CA, Infineon is close to the world famous wineries and driving distance from both Oakland and San Francisco.
Utilizing only a portion of the full 2.52-mile road course, Formula DRIFT uses the exit for Turn 4A, Turn 7A, and Turn 7. One of the fastest tracks of the season, Infineon’s course starts with a downhill straight that has seen drivers reach the 100mph+ mark before entering the fast right-hand turn. Drivers will have to use their best car control skills to manage the speed and slide back around the sweeping turns. Hopefully I will get to get some event photos up... that is if I go! Here's a drift video to get you hyped up!

D1GP is this month!!!

Where have I been? Then again it's been a while since I've been to a D1 event. The first one was awesome in the sense it renewed some emotion I have about the import culture. Of course it was beaten to death with the JDM-tards and the Fast and Furious crowd...but still...watching cars slide across pavement is always fun...especially when you almost lose a hand to the rear end of Silvia while trying to take a picture of it. ;-P

You Know It’s Tokyo Motor Show Time…

...when new cars start popping up all over the internet. For instance, the STi teaser pic that Subaru has released upon the internet:

Or what about the next gen Fit, which looks like a winner:

2nd Gen Fit Released!

Can't wait to see what else will be premiering at the Tokyo Motor Show. Should be a good one! I mean come on, it'll mark the return of the GT-R!!!

Honda Homecoming

Honda Homecoming 2007

It really brings a tear to my eye. Hundreds of S2Ks lined up at Honda's Torrance Headquarters along with a personal appearance of Shigeru Uehara himself? The father of the NSX and S2000?! MAN...would I die for him to sign my radio cover. LOL. Here's the S2Ki thread with all the pics and what not of the event. Looked like fun. Even an S600 and the S2000 CR were present. And free BBQ?...*sigh* sometimes working on Saturdays sucks.

Lexus’ Virtual Open

Want the new Lexus IS-F? You know you want that bold blue IS-F that has hit the internet like a storm the last couple weeks...well now's your chance to get one. Lexus will, not only be sponsoring the US Open, but also the Virtual Open Powered by Wii located in New York's Rockefeller Center! It'll be 3 days of Wii Tennis competition starting on September 4th. On the day of the finals, one person will walk away with a one year lease for a new Lexus IS-F, just like the winner of the US Open. You'll also get two tickets to the Lexus Suite for the US Open Finals on the 9th. As if this couldn't get any better, the Virtual Open is also a charity event as for every serve hit during the Virtual Open will equal a dollar that Lexus will donate to the Andy Roddick Foundation. This my friends is cross promotion at it's finest. Check out myownpursuit.com for more info!

Looking forward to Oreo Dangos

It seems that once you get into summer, it's pretty much over. Then again, in the working world, "summer" doesn't really exist anymore, yet somehow we cling to doing vacations and just plain chillin' out during these 3 months of the year.

obonfest

Although I'm not on my Friday yet, I think I"ll be starting my weekend off a bit early by taking a quick stroll back to Anaheim to meet up with some friends at the Disneyland Hotel's Lost Bar. Not only a tourist favorite, it's a favorite of many locals just cause it's a small cozy place in the middle of "The Happiest Place on Earth!" "Where Dreams Come True!" It's a favorite of my friends and I since we spent many summers hanging out at the Lost Bar after a long day of work. It's become some kind of a tradition for us since that's when any of us usually see each other anymore...summers at the Lost Bar. *sigh* good times indeed...

Anyhow, checking the calendar it's gonna be a festive weekend with L.A.'s Nisei Week kicking off tomorrow. With that brings Import Showoff Nisei Showoff Car Show & Carnival. It also means Nikkei Games, Tofu Festival, Sumo matches, cosplay competitions, Anime Festival, taiko drumming, and the crowning of the Nisei Queen. Should be loads of fun! Even better yet, there should be good eats too...hopefully the Oreo dangos will be there...just like a fried Oreo, just using dango batter. It's making my mouth water just thinking about it.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Keep it safe! Maybe you'll catch me at a Nisei event - if you do buy me a dango and say hi! =) Don't forget to set the Tivo/DV-Rs! Naruto Hundo starts today...

SpoCom 2007: Cars and Vendors

So just got back from SpoCom. Plenty of vendors around to peddle their wares and lots of free-bees to be had. Although it didn't take long for banners and signs to start disappearing in the hands of the patrons. Tsk tsk...oh well, it was a good show for a first show. Good luck to them on future shows. I on the other hand prolly should have checked out the Rally at the X Games just north of here...BAH! Gallery to follow up within a week or whenever I get a chance to upload pictures.

Where’d My Weekend Go?

Dang, it's already Sunday? Another weekend has come and gone and I'm barely getting into it. That's all good though since today is Sunday, the day of SpoCom. If you have nothing else to do this Sunday maybe you should check it out too. Not quite sure what it's all about since it's the inaugural event, but if it's like any other car show that has come across the Southland, then it shouldn't disappoint much. The biggest difference is the interaction with the top manufacturers of the industry, which is kind of neat. As a friend put it, "...the SEMA of California." Uhhh big words to live up to, we'll see how great it is.

Heading Home to Honda

hondas2k

This is a rare treat indeed! For all you S2K owners out there, including me, you might want to check out this little event to occur at Honda Headquarters in Torrance, CA. To gain entrance into the hallowed grounds of Honda all you need is an S2K to get in. That's right, no S2K, no entrance for you...unless you happen to be a passenger. Inside the forbidden city you will find the new 2008 Honda S2000 CR. Yup, the big snow plow nose of a car will be there for viewing. The free event will be on September 8th and will also be part BBQ/meet with giveaways! Hundreds of owners have already committed to go so make sure to register online at Honda! [Honda Homecoming!]

The Santa Anita race track that is. For all you Scooby drivers and drivers-to-be, you might want to check this one out. It seems Subaru will be holding an event to debut the new Subaru Impreza. Located at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, CA, Subaru will allow you to test drive their new Impreza WRX on two different courses. On top of that, there will be an area with DJs, video games, RC tracks, Tuner Auto Salon, rally stuff, Subaru merchandise, and what not. Sound like fun? MOST DEFINETLY! To sign up to drive or find out more info hit up the WRX Hub @ Subaru.com and look for the link, "Drive the Legend." This event will take place in a couple weeks on August 11th! [Subaru.com]
