IJ Saturday Morning: Who is “the Driver”?

20120113-130048.jpg

Remember a couple years back a clip appeared online pointing to an upcoming animation series based around the cars we loved and the hero being a GT-R? Looks like another trailer has come out as a continuation of the first video that dropped. Still street racing and out running the cops, the bad dude thinks he gets away only to be tormented on the freeways of LA by the ghost GT-R. Who is this road vigilante? I dunno but he has some great sponsors who are doing their best to change the negative images the import scene seems to conjure and educate the masses on being responsible drivers. Especially on the mean freeways of LA.

Marvel & Toyota Team Up

This has got to be one of the quirkier things to come out of Toyota's big marketing push for the Yaris - The "What The..?!" crew from Marvel and Toyota send Bruce Banner on a road trip with Dr. Strange to Cleveland, Ohio. For one thing I had no clue "What The..?!" made the jump from comic book to youtube videos, but I have become an instant fan of the Robot Chicken-like shorts. Obviously, Toyota is targeting a younger market with their newest Yaris with their meme contest at I Can Has Cheezeburger? and more videos at Funny or Die. For the most part, I think they have done some great ads for their "It's a Car!" campaign and this collaboration with Marvel is pure brilliance. Much better than the "Fit is Go!" campaign that came out of Honda. Anyhow, check out episode 1 of Marvel Superheroes: What The...?! - The Incredible Drive and get ready to go on a road trip! Come on Bruce! WEEEEEEE!

IJ’s Saturday Morning: Tokyo Mater

This short had started running on the Disney channel a couple of years ago, but every once in a while I'll catch it and be reminded, "Why haven't I put this up on IJ yet?" Every time I watch it I can't help but crack up since its everything that's wrong with the F&F franchise and Tokyo Drift more specifically. MODIFY! It also has a soundtrack scored by BT which makes it even that much better. I'm not the only one who liked the short as there was a whole Tokyo Drift toy line that came out in 2010 and did pretty good for the Disney Consumer Products. So get READY! SET-TO! and GO! watch the clip for that quick pick me up this Saturday morning.

To all the Hajime no Ippo fans… guess what?!

It's back! YAY! It's the continuation of one of my favorite animes of all time. It is entitled "HAJIME NO IPPO: NEW CHALLENGER." In it Ippo Makunouchi (star of the show) continues his boxing career and his goal on knowing the meaning of being strong as well as the desire to fight his idol Ichiro Miyata once again. Along with him are pro boxers Takamura, Aoki and Kimura, each one of them striving to reach their own goals and their own dreams. Here is a little taste... Enjoy

IJ’s Saturday Morning

Here we are again with the second episode from Wagan Midnight. I haven't spent much time this morning as I cheered on the Longhorns to beat the Sooners and currently watching SC dominate ASU. Later on tonight, is LSU vs Florida which will be a good game...I hope. GO GATORS! Back on Wagan Midnight, I recently received the soundtrack to installment 3 of the arcade game. Very nice. Anyhow, on to the show, so sit back, relax, and remeber the rest of the show is after the split!

NARUTO HUNDO!!!

So this is just what I needed this weekend...Naruto Hundo! Cartoon Network will be running 100 episodes of Naruto. That's right...one hundred episodes of Naruto starting 600am on Friday and ending with a debut of a new episode at 930pm Sunday. That's a lot of Naruto. More like that's a lot of DV-R space, since I won't be home for most of the weekend. *sigh* Excessive a little bit, but at least I know there'll be something to watch at like 3am other than infomercials.

Wait a sec...is "Hundo" even a real word? Ehhh whatever.

Victorious Boxer a.k.a. Hajime no Ippo

The news came out a couple weeks ago on GoNintendo, and I remember seeing a video demonstration from E3 where the developer said they were working on the US version...but anyhow, Nintendo Power has confirmed that Victorious Boxer will be making it to US Wiis this coming fall. HOORAY!!! For all you Hajime no Ippo fans this is prolly the most definitive game out of all the ones that came out on the PS2. Get ready to pick up your remote and nunchuck and take Ippo to the Championships!!! This one I'm really excited about and a bit happy relieved that you can use the classic controller, instead of motion sensitive moves, to play the game.

Only in Japan

From the video gaming side of the internet I came across this:

Initial D: Stage 4 Arcade

That's right. The Initial D arcade game setup with the shells of real cars in front of a 90in widescreen. This arcade game can be found in a Joypolis in Odaiba, Japan. Last time I was in Japan I got my ass handed to me playing some racing game, I'm guessing Wangan Maximum Tune. Anyhow, I wouldn't mind plopping down the yen to play this puppy and get my ass handed to me again. [From: Q-Taro]
