Who needs VTEC when you got i-DTEC!

Diesel engines are beginning to start their comeback to the North American shores. Most companies have finally found ways to get their diesel engines to burn cleaner to pass stringent American emission standards. One of those companies, although not so surprising with their push to be green, is Honda and their new i-DTEC engine. First revealed during Honda's press conference at the Frankfurt show earlier this year, the i-DTEC turbo diesel engine made it's North American debut at the NAIAS. Not much is known about where this motor will go, but there is a strong possibility it will be an engine option for the second generation Acura TSX. So for all you Honda haters complaining about no torque Hondas, well this thing should chug out mass amounts of it, like somewhere in the 300 lb-ft range, just don't be surprised by the low hp numbers. Although, if it performs as well as the previous turbo-diesel European Honda Accord, it should be one speedy little car - putting it at the top compared to other diesel cars in it's class. So this gives Acura two turbo'd engines and the imminent use of SH-AWD amongst it's entire car line. You suppose they are taking an Audi-like route to tap into the luxury market they once were at the top of?
