Could’ve Been Worse
LOL...where has this been hiding? So anyhow, here's a nice little vid of Travis Pastrana during a rally a couple days back:

If there were one reason to get a Wii…

...it'd be for Smash Bros. Brawl! Can't wait till this one comes out in March. For those not keeping up with the Smash Bros. Dojo you'll find an amazing amount of additions since Brawl! New characters such as Sonic, various amounts of new and old levels, and online play. Seriously, this is THE Nintendo game. Trust me, you won't be dissapointed.
Someone at Mugen Hates the S2…
...cause who puts a grill up front and center and thinks BEAUTIFUL?!
I'm sure there's Mugen goodness all around, like I wouldn't mind having those wheels and betting it'll out do a S2000 CR. I just can't get myself past that grill...*sigh*
Who needs VTEC when you got i-DTEC!
Diesel engines are beginning to start their comeback to the North American shores. Most companies have finally found ways to get their diesel engines to burn cleaner to pass stringent American emission standards. One of those companies, although not so surprising with their push to be green, is Honda and their new i-DTEC engine. First revealed during Honda's press conference at the Frankfurt show earlier this year, the i-DTEC turbo diesel engine made it's North American debut at the NAIAS. Not much is known about where this motor will go, but there is a strong possibility it will be an engine option for the second generation Acura TSX. So for all you Honda haters complaining about no torque Hondas, well this thing should chug out mass amounts of it, like somewhere in the 300 lb-ft range, just don't be surprised by the low hp numbers. Although, if it performs as well as the previous turbo-diesel European Honda Accord, it should be one speedy little car - putting it at the top compared to other diesel cars in it's class. So this gives Acura two turbo'd engines and the imminent use of SH-AWD amongst it's entire car line. You suppose they are taking an Audi-like route to tap into the luxury market they once were at the top of?
Mitsubishi Concept RA
So here it is. I think I'm underwhelmed...altho underhood is alright: 201 bhp and 301 lb-ft of torque coming out of a 2.2L MIVEC turbo-diesel inline 4. It also uses the SAWC (aka Super-All Wheel Control) systems found on the 2008 Evo. I suppose finding out how heavy this thing is will determine how it is received by everyone.
2009 RX-8 Debuts @ NAIAS
Launched in 2003, the Mazda RX-8 hit the global market with a serious bang. The RX-8 has won more than 50 global awards since its release including 2003 RJC Car of the Year in Japan Australia's Wheels magazine's Car of the Year for 2003, 2003 International Engine of the Year, 2004 Singapore Car of the Year, the 2004 U.S. Best Sports Car and UK Car of the Year 2004. It was also named on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 2004, 2005, and 2006. All together, Mazda has sold nearly 167,000 RX-8s around the world.
For 2009, Mazda will further the evolution of the four-door, four-seater sports coupe, giving RX-8 a refreshed exterior and interior design, enhanced performance and a new R3 sport package for the ultimate driving enthusiast.
Unchanged is the core of the RX-8 – a high-powered, lightweight and perfectly balanced machine powered by the world-renowned twin-rotor RENESIS rotary engine.
“Dating back to the Cosmo Sport released in 1967, every sports car ever developed by Mazda has had the same fundamental mission – to provide car lovers with a vehicle that’s fun-to-drive, exciting to look at and easy to own,” said Tetsu Nakazawa, Mazda North American Operations’ RX-8 vehicle line manager. “The 2009 RX-8 embodies that mission, conveying the unique and distinctive Mazda brand DNA to the fullest.”
To enhance the highly successful RX-8, Mazda engineers focused on innovation in three key areas for the 2009 RX-8: styling, performance and packaging. “The enhancements made to RX-8’s exterior, interior, packaging and performance takes it to a whole new level of visual and driving excitement,” remarked Nakazawa.
Hit the split for the rest of the press release...
Tighten Those Lugnuts…
Happy New Year to you all. To start of another year, I thought I'd post up this clip of an RX-7 at any old autocross. Never did I think this would happen tho:
