Nissan/NISMO bowing out?

Jalopnik had some rather grim news today: It seems that Nissan and NISMO are pulling out of American motorsports events. According to Jalopnik, Nissan will not be participating or sponsoring any motorsports events in America for 2008.

"According to Scott Vazin, Director of Product Communications for Nissan Motor Company, though they're getting out for [Fiscal Year] 2008, 'we'll keep a presence around the world.' Vazin went on to say 'It's not all or nothing, we're certainly reviewing it against a larger motorsports strategy, but for 2008 we're taking a pause.' He wouldn't give a reason for doing so, other than saying they're working on strategy, but he did deny that it was at all a financial decision."

Indeed with the coming the GT-R, it seems quite odd that Nissan and NISMO would pull out of American motorsports.

Edmunds: EVO X vs. WRX STi

evosti"Both the 2008 Mitsubishi Evo and the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI have graduated from high school bullies to scholarship-toting college athletes, and all in just one generation. So which do we choose?

It's not going to be easy. The STI wins if you want a wagonlike car that handles with a more intuitive, analog feel. The Evo gets the nod if you're happier with a good-looking sedan that has excellent throttle response.

For those who don't care about body shapes, then the STI just pips the Evo, thanks to its better ride, smoother gearbox and especially the cool sounds the engine makes. But this might all change once the Evo gets its dual-clutch automated manual transmission.

It's not an easy choice. Who would you pick as your bodyguard: Jean-Claude Van Damme or Jet Li?"

Tough choice indeed...check out the whole article at Edmunds.com!
