Dear Sony – Why isn’t this ad on TV? Awesome clip – way better than what Sony’s pushing out right now.
If you are not sure who Lucas Ordonez is: Back in 2008, Nissan and Sony held a competition across Europe to create a race car driver out of video gamers called the “GT Academy.” The task? Beat 25,000 other gamers to the fastest lap in GT5 Prologue for the PS3. Twenty-two gamers had the fastest laps and were then given physical, mental, and driving challenges. The winner of these trials was Lucas Ordonez. He did pretty good in his debut at the Dubai 24hr 2009 by finishing 45th and 9th in class. He then went on to take 2nd place in his 2009 campaign in the Euro GT4 Championship. Impressive.
I came across this when I was surfing through youtube. Hotwheels came up with an interactive video where you can choose what car and what mods you need in order to win on a variety of courses. Check it out, it’s pretty fun! Choose wisely!
So, another trailer dropped for Gran Turismo 5 and this time it features the newest race series to the GT franchise: NASCAR. Are you excited for some left-turn racing? I am…unless I’m stuck simulating a 500 lap series just to get a license to move to the next level. Then I wouldn’t be happy – just dizzy from all that turning. Regardless though, this game needs to come out now…Dirt2 and NFS:Shift can only hold me over for so long.
Straight from Mugen comes their take on the CR-Z. I want those wheels. I probably could do without the LED grill-bumper. Overall, not a bad looking car. Hybrid Tuning…its like the old adage, “All Show. No Go.” Maybe this round there’ll be some “go” considering the amount of Japanese tuners willingly getting behind the Prius and Insight.
Oh I love rally. And oh how I love the European Civic Type R. Put those two together? *gasp* Here is Honda Australia doing shakedown runs of their rally Civic. Tuned by JAS Motorsports and powered by Mugen, this little guy will be driven by Evans Motorsports driver Eli Evans and co-driver Glen Weston in the 2010 Australian Rally Championship.
The 2010 ARC starts this weekend and will be pitting my beloved hatch against the likes of Eli Evans’ brother, Simon, in a Subaru WRX STi along with a field of TRD Toyota Corolla hatches and Mitsu EVOs.
Driving into work today this “thing” was zooming down the carpool lane along the 91 Freeway. I vaguely recall when it was released but it escapes my brain who made it and what its called. Let me know if you got a clue!
I have been spending a lot of time downloading and uploading pictures and files so that the Import Junkiez Archive isn’t just a big old mess of broken links. Going back to the first post all the way to now, I have pretty much completed everything. To get all the pics back, I had to bring out my trusty old external hard drive with all the backups. I got to flipping through some old galleries of stuff I haven’t seen since I started posting 7 years ago. Man, has it been that long?! I just thought I’d post up some favorites of the bunch. Lets take a quick trip down memory lane, but don’t blame the Sony Mavica for the pics…its me and my lack of photo skills.
I think I’ll leave it at that for now or else we’d be here forever, right? LOL. Alrighty, till next time!

What an odd little mini-SUV/crossover/compact car…
Designed by Nissan’s studios in Europe, this car is very different from the norm. It’s very Nissan, yet more quirky than the stuff coming out of Korea. Even though my first impressions of the vehicle consisted of things like “Buzz, your girlfriend! Woof!” or “No Nissan! Bad Nissan!,” I tend to find myself drawn to the car. Maybe its the video…the music is so calming and the design just seems so much more appealing while spinning in circles. Although Nissan hasn’t released the US-specs on this compact crossover, I’m sure we will all be hoping for the 4WD 1.6L turbo’d 4 banger that Europe is getting.
Nissan is planning to debut the Juke to America at the New York Auto Show. -Tanker
